The Ultimate Guide to Living in Fairfield Beach, Connecticut

Blog Jennifer Lockwood March 10, 2025

Fairfield Beach is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Fairfield, Connecticut. Located along the coastline from Post Road and Old Post Road heading south, this charming seaside community offers a perfect blend of convenience, walkability, and coastal living. Whether you're drawn to its beautiful beaches, vibrant downtown, or stunning homes, Fairfield Beach has something for everyone.

A Highly Desirable Coastal Neighborhood

Fairfield Beach is known for its high-value homes, ranging from original beach bungalows and classic Cape Cods to newly constructed luxury properties. Many of the newer homes are built in Craftsman or Nantucket styles by top local builders, adding to the neighborhood's charm and character. Families and outdoor enthusiasts love the ability to walk or bike to the beach, parks, and local amenities, making it an ideal place to live.

Fairfield Beach’s Three Stunning Beaches
Jennings Beach

Jennings Beach is the largest of the three public beaches, spanning 27 acres. It offers a variety of amenities, including:

  • Concession stand

  • Bathroom facilities

  • Volleyball poles

  • Sailboat racks

  • Swimming lessons

Jennings Beach is also home to Fairfield’s spectacular 4th of July fireworks, which can be viewed from all public beaches. Other popular events include the Sand Jam Family Fun Dance and Family Movie Nights, hosted by the Recreation Department. A unique summer experience at Jennings Beach is booking a bonfire on the sand—reservations fill up quickly!

Next to Jennings Beach, the Henry Rowland Memorial Playground features the well-loved Sandcastle Playground, a skate park, and scenic walking trails. The South Benson Marina, located nearby, accommodates 600 boats and includes a boat launch ramp, bait shack, picnic tables, and a fishing pier.

Penfield Beach

A favorite among locals, Penfield Beach spans 3.5 acres and offers:

  • Picnic tables and charcoal grills

  • A concession stand with a variety of food options

  • Swing sets for children

  • Beach lockers available for seasonal rental

  • Sailboat racks, a large covered deck, and handicap accessibility

Penfield Beach is also home to The Sandy Ground: Where Angels Play project, built in memory of the Sandy Hook Elementary victims. From its shore, visitors can see the historic Penfield Beach Lighthouse, built in 1874. At low tide, an adventurous 1.1-mile walk along the reef leads to the lighthouse—but be mindful of the tides!

For special occasions, Penfield Beach boasts two waterfront banquet venues:

  • The Penfield Complex – A modern venue accommodating up to 300 guests for cocktail parties or 180 for seated events.

  • Jacky Durrell Pavilion – A smaller, rustic-style venue with warm wood tones and a wraparound deck, perfect for intimate gatherings.

South Pine Creek Beach

The smallest of the three beaches, South Pine Creek Beach is a quiet retreat with bathroom facilities, a small parking lot, and a lifeguard on duty. From October through March, all Fairfield beaches welcome dogs and horses.
