Coleytown

The Coleytown neighborhood sits at the northernmost edge of town and lies between Cross Highway and the town of Weston.  Coleytown offers expansive properties, wooded lots, and beautiful neighborhoods with colonial homes that still exhibit their original architecture.

For nature lovers, the Newman-Poses Preserve is a 39-acre preserve on Bayberry Lane. It is the only public memorial approved by the family of the late Paul Newman to honor the actor and philanthropist.  At the Newman-Poses Preserve, you will find well-established walking trails through a tranquil forest setting, wetland, open fields, as well as a 1-mile loop trail along the Aspectuck River.  Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be on a leash.

Coleytown is home to The Westport Observatory, an astronomical observatory operated by the Westport Astronomical Society.  The observatory was built upon the former BR-73 Nike missile site constructed during the Cold War and, at 26 feet, is located at the highest elevation in town.  Residents can attend public viewing nights that are scheduled approximately once per month and for special occasions.  For updates, please check the events listing on their social media channels of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

For commuters, the Coleytown area offers easy access to the Merritt Parkway (Route 15).  Children residing in Coleytown attend Coleytown Elementary School (K-5), Coleytown Middle School (6-8), and top-rated Staples High School (9-12).
