For nature lovers, the Newman-Poses Preserve is a 39-acre preserve on Bayberry Lane. It is the only public memorial approved by the family of the late Paul Newman to honor the actor and philanthropist. Coleytown is home to The Westport Observatory, an astronomical observatory operated by the Westport Astronomical Society. The observatory was built upon the former BR-73 Nike missile site constructed during the Cold War and, at 26 feet, is located at the highest elevation in town. Residents can attend public viewing nights that are scheduled approximately once per month and for special occasions.
