The Lake Hills neighborhood is in the northern part of Fairfield bordering either side of Black Rock Turnpike. It was established in 1952, and the homes are anchored by the beautiful Samp Mortar Lake. The land covers more than 480 acres with over 500 homes and 80 acres of common area. Within this neighborhood is the deeded membership to the Lake Hill Association providing residents with a one-of-a-kind neighborhood club experience. The Association provides residents private access to their facilities as well as private community events including camp fires, live music and movies, Fall Fest, and the annual Fishing Derby, to name a few. The facilities provide a home for various recreational opportunities; five private beaches, baseball field, playground, walking trails and water craft storage for members. The beaches offer lifeguards during posted times and the availability of swimming lessons. Lake Hills neighborhood is convenient to the Merritt Parkway, minutes to either Fairfield train stations and Black Rock Tpke shopping and restaurants.
The Lake Mohegan neighborhood is adjacent to the Lake Hills and Stratfield neighborhoods in the northern part of Fairfield. Quaint neighborhoods are nestled along the shores of Lake Mohegan and its surrounding open space which is comprised 170.4 acres. During the summer months, the man-made fresh water lake is open to swimmers in a special designated area supervised by lifeguards. This select area of Lake Mohegan offers a sandy beach, sprinkler park for children, playground, snack bar, picnic shelter and restroom facilities. Fairfield Parks and Recreation holds swimming lessons in the calm lake waters for children beginning at age four. Parking at Lake Mohegan is FREE, however a fee is charged at the gate to enter the swimming area from Memorial Day Saturday to Labor Day. Residents also have a choice to purchase a season pass for use of the facilities throughout the summer months.
Perfect for nature lovers, the Lake Mohegan area also includes open space with 2.5 miles of hiking trails and cascades around the lake. The Conservation Commission oversees Lake Mohegan Open Space Area and access to the open space is available to all. Lake Mohegan trails and cascades are dog friendly where the family canine can walk off-leash unless otherwise posted.
This area is perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors and it is convenient for commuters due to its proximity to the Merritt Parkway and the Metro North Train Station. Homes in this area have varying architectural designs and have a range of price points.
